JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join the Centre for Holistic Initiatives (CHILD) for Learning and Development, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. CHILD brings together experts in the field of translational research, child health and development, and implementation science to accelerate the use of evidence in policy and practice and give every child the best start in life.

This position requires a strong independent work ethic, interest in education and early child development, ability to collaborate with the research team and external partners, commitment to equity, as well as qualitative and quantitative research skills. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

  • Design training packages and conduct training for research staff and early childhood practitioners from social science, health and education
  • Plan lessons/coaching sessions, instructional design, and assessment activities
  • Establish metrics to measure success and impact of training programmes and workshops.
  • Organize in-person and online coaching and training sessions
  • Prototype new approaches in teaching and learning, anchored on evidence-informed practices
  • Lead and assist in the design, development and implementation of post-graduate educational activities, programmes and courses related to early childhood development
  • Design, conduct and report evaluations of training interventions and innovations

ROLE RQUIREMENTS

Education: A PhD in Education/Psychology/Behavioral Science/Developmental Psychology/Public Health/Social Work/Counselling or a related discipline.

 Experience: Candidates with experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Implementation science or improvement science
  • Behavioural or social sciences applied to child health/development
  • Policy and programme evaluation and implementation
  • Education/Health Services or Applied Health Research


The candidate should also possess:

  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Prior experience in educational approaches and training courses at undergraduate/ graduate level will be advantageous;
  • Experience in curriculum design and evaluation will be advantageous
  • Experienced in adult training/coaching
  • Willingness to travel to various regions in Singapore for on-site coaching/training and, where necessary, a willingness to work an adjusted schedule for any training conducted outside of regular office hours.
  • Willingness to undertake further training in coaching strategies and research-related activities
  • Keen interest in early child development and passion for research translation and communication will be advantageous. 
  • Ability to communicate in a second language (eg., Mandarin, Malay, Tamil or other dialects) is a plus
  • A team player with an ability to work independently.
